Win your 2022 Year!

There's something about the new year that ignites an exciting drive in people to be better in whatever it is they desire. I mean, in reality if there was no knowledge of a calendar in our society, January 1st 2022 would be... well, just another sun rise followed by yet another sunset. However, the new year brings about that hope that the future will be brighter. It allows us to categorize our thoughts and experiences to either "it was a great year" or "next year will be a better year". It gives us the comfort of moving on and having a new path to pave in this journey we call life.

This time of year is filled with excitement, lots of energy, motivation, enthusiasm and "go-get it" spirits. I too am filled with this exciting energy to do better and work my butt off to accomplish greater goals than in 2021. For this reason, I want to share with you 22 things that you can do and engage in to have the best year you can have. Please share with me your thoughts and let me know how it goes for you once you apply them to your life. Happy New Year and don't forget to embrace your journey along the way!

  1. Strive to become 1% better every day. Don't go to sleep the same way you woke up! Be More!

  2. Work on your spiritually. Pray for strength, understanding, and wisdom throughout the year.

  3. Choose at least one MAJOR thing that you want to accomplish this year, write it down and plan to DO IT! I know you have a bucket list. Accomplish at least 1!

  4. Help at least one person every day. Make someone smile, donate to charity, help a panhandler, open the door for the elderly, call a long lost friend or relative, volunteer time, say thank you, leave a nice tip, etc... ONE thing every day.

  5. Work on your leadership and team-building characteristics. Leaders inspire and help bring people back up on their feet. No matter your role at work, be a leader that helps others. Leaders build leaders.

  6. Work on your healthy eating habits! Eat quality foods most of the time. Eliminate Sugars! Cut away the processed junk! Get Your Foodie Mind Right!

  7. Be the most driven and motivated person you know! Motivation is contagious!

  8. Change your world by changing your thoughts, words and attitude. Use encouraging and positive language even when and if you're going through difficult times. Remember, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your character. What legacy are you leaving behind?

  9. Take responsibility of your life! Don't complain, don't blame, and don't make excuses.

  10. Read the book "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho and "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz

  11. Make time for YOU! Take time everyday to close your eyes, listen to your breath, relax your mind and just be one within yourself.

  12. Iron sharpens Iron. Surround yourself by those who lift you up! There's people out there who would love to see you fail, watch who you surround yourself with. Be ok with separation when it brings you to a better place.

  13. Say "Please", "Thank You" and "I Love You" more often.

  14. Work on listening to understand, not to respond.

  15. Track your progress and success as you go! Attention to details!

  16. Listen to inspirational speeches and leadership podcast. This will feed your mindset! Opt for these things on your commute to and from work.

  18. Take some time off TV, Facebook, Instagram and all that disconnects YOU from YOU!

  19. "I don't have time" is a atrocious EXCUSE! Make time! Yes you can! Let's go!

  20. Invest more in your family, your spouse, children, best friends, pets! They are your squad!

  21. Get Moving! Dedicate yourself to exercising at least 3 times a week! Find a park, track, local gym, group fitness facility, crossfit box, etc... and connect with them! But remember, you can't outrun a bad diet! Refer to number 5!

  22. Focus will always outlast motivation. When motivation is low, understand this is a normal process. Acknowledge the feeling, but don't act on it, stay focused on your goals, your relationships, marriages, family, careers, fitness and health goals, etc... stay focused. Focused people are not always motivated, but they are committed to the cause and goal.

There you have it! 20 things to help make 2022 a year to remember. Lets not only make 2022 awesome, but let this be the year you worked on yourself and uplifting those around you!
